About the Project

Pax Ó Faoláin is a fiddle player, composer and producer from An Rinn, Co. Phort Láirge. Pax was exposed to John’s music in his early teens and met John in Mooney’s Pub in An Rinn at many sessions. He developed a keen interest in John’s music in his later teens and was encouraged by John to compose his own tunes. John’s encouragement left a lasting effect on Pax as a musician and he would return to John’s music time and time again throughout his undergraduate degree in Music in The Cork School of Music (CIT - now MTU). 

Pax was awarded a Next Generation Award by The Arts Council/An Comhairle Ealaíon in 2021 and as part of this award, Pax decided to begin a project on John Dwyer’s music due to John passing the previous year. The aim of the project is to preserve and spread John’s music and compositions by creating this website to serve as a learning resource to those who wish to learn John’s music. Having spent much of 2021 and 2022 researching and immersing himself in John’s music, Pax launched this resource, Ceol John Dwyer, at Tionól Nioclás Tóibín in Gaeltacht na nDéise on the 4th of February 2022.
